COURSE SUMMARY
The Sydney Accord was signed in June 2001 and Malaysia became a signatory in 2018. The Sydney Accord is specifically focused on academic programmed dealing with engineering technology. It recognizes the importance of the roles engineering technologists as part of a wider engineering team. It includes roles such as; certified or applied science technologists, which may also be called associate or incorporated engineers.
The Dublin Accord, signed in 2002, focuses on mutual recognition of qualifications for Engineering Technician titles. It acknowledges the educational base as a foundation for practice and emphasizes the roles of engineering technicians in a wider engineering team, including certified or professional technicians.

IR. DR. Ahmad Yasir Md Said
IR. DR. SITI HAWA HAMZAH
- Ir. Dr. Liew is the Assistant Dean (Quality Assurance) of the School of Energy and Chemical Engineering at Xiamen University Malaysia.
- He also serves as the current Associate Director of the Engineering Technology Accreditation Council (ETAC) and was previously the Associate Director of the Engineering Accreditation Council (EAC) from 2016 to 2020.
- Since 2012, he has been involved in the enhancement and accreditation of engineering degrees, engineering technology degrees, and engineering diploma programmes internationally and locally as head of delegations, advisor, external examiner, and speaker in some institutions of higher learning.
- He has over 13 years of teaching and academic experience, and managing engineering programmes as well as 12 years of industry experience. His research interests include engineering education, wireless communication, and supercapacitor applications.
IR. DR. Ahmad Yasir Md Said
- Ir. Dr. Ahmad Yasir Md Said is an Associate Professor and the former Deputy Dean (Academic and Technology) at the University Kuala Lumpur Malaysia France Institute.
- Currently, he is a council member to ETAC, BEM; had served ETAC as an Associate Director (2016-2022).
- He actively involves in academic programme accreditation with MQA and BEM.
- He was the International Programme Assessor, Timor Leste National Agency for Academic Accreditation and Assessment (2018-2019).
- His doctoral research was in process optimization in machining of aerospace materials; and current research interest is on application of biodegradable oil as cutting fluid.
IR. DR. SITI HAWA HAMZAH
- Ir. Dr. Siti Hawa is currently the IEM Vice President.
- She is a retired Professor in Civil and Structural Engineering from UiTM Shah Alam with 33 years of experience.
- She is the former Director of the Engineering Accreditation Department, BEM (2020-2022) and was the EAC Associate Director, BEM (2014-2020).
- She specializes in load bearing wall panel structures and engineering education.
- She made impactful contributions to Afghanistan, Bangladesh and Qatar on OBE and quality assurance; being a mentor to BAETE-IEB and a WA reviewer to HKIE and ECUK.
- Dr. Siti published 15 books in structural engineering and more than 175 technical papers.
