INTRODUCTION
IEM Training Academy Sdn Bhd (IEMTA) (formally known as IEM Training Centre Sdn. Bhd, (IEMTC)) is a 100% owned training and business arm of The Institution of Engineers, Malaysia (IEM). It is registered with the Registrar of Companies on 22 September 1984 and the Ministry of Finance Malaysia on 24 January 2011.

​The main activities of the company are:

  • providing Professional Development Programmes (PDP) for Graduate Engineers to become Professional Engineers.
  • providing Continuing Professional Development (CPD) programmes for Professional Engineers to comply with the BEM requirements for renewal of their P.E. status.
  • providing training for IEM members and the public for engineering advancement.
  • providing in-house training for engineering advancement.
  • events management such as exhibition, secretariat services, publications.
  • resource centre for knowledge.
  • facilitate and impart knowledge.
  • providing any other solutions.
COURSES
In 2001, IEMTC was given the mandate to organize and conduct the three (3) Board of Engineers, Malaysia (BEM) Mandatory Courses to comply with BEM Regulation 22(1)(b) before the Graduate Engineer applies for registration as a Professional Engineer:-

MEMORANDUM OF AGREEMENT/UNDERSTANDING​​
Association of Geotechnical Societies in Southeast Asia (AGSSEA)
​In 2007, IEMTC signed a Memorandum of Agreement with the Association of Geotechnical Societies in Southeast Asia for IEMTC to be its secretariat and events manager for AGSSEA for all its conferences, exhibitions, courses, seminars, workshops and any other activities.

Engineering Staff College of India, Hyderabad (ESCI)
A Memorandum of Understanding with ESCI was signed on 4th June 2010 on the recognition of training programmes, exchange of information regarding planned programmes and exchange of training faculty for training programmes. The first collaborated activity was a Training Workshop on “Maintenance of Infrastructures” held on 28 March – 1 April 2011 in Kuala Lumpur.

Board of Engineers Cambodia (BEC)
In July 2010, IEMTC signed a Memorandum of Understanding the Board of Engineers Cambodia (BEC) with the objective of collaborating in the field of continuing professional development of engineers of the respective countries. The first training programme on “Project Management” was conducted on 1 & 2 August 2011 for BEC in Phnom Penh, Cambodia.

Vietnam Society of Soil Mechanics and Geotechnical Engineering (VSSMGE)
A Memorandum of Understanding with VSSMGE was signed on 1st December 2010 on the recognition of training programmes, exchange of information regarding planned programmes and exchange of training faculty for training programmes.

Malaysia Productivity Corporation (MPC)
