Synopsis
We know engineers and architects design buildings and structures for the purpose of habitation, functionality, comfort and safety. Architects will conceptualize the buildings they are designing for while the engineers will make it possible and into reality by designing the structures and M&E systems for the building. In the process, these ideas by the professionals must be translated on the ground that would allow the occupiers and users of buildings and structures to be functional and safe. Thus, at the construction phase, all technical and professional personnel need to supervise and ensure the construction of the buildings and structures will meet the concept ideas, standards and specifications that is required within the contract, drawings, budgets and legal requirements.
Supervision at site is not about just standing at the site just looking around. A professional supervisor has many tasks to perform to ensure the building is properly constructed not only to meet standards and specifications but also ensure the building will be completed timely, within the project cost, and meeting all quality and safety standards.
This course will cover as much as possible to provide the participants an insight to effective site supervision. It will discuss the concepts of supervision, qualifications and skills required in supervision, items in supervision of different disciplines like temporary works, formworks, concrete structures, steel structures, roofs, architectural finishes and building services installations. It will have discussions on issues and problems encountered in site supervision. The course will study some solutions to addressing those problems. Case studies in the form of videos will be illutrated
