SYNOPSIS
​
This webinar programme will share the key information and preparation that the participants need to know to be successfully registered as the Registered Electrical Energy Manager (REEM) with Energy Commission with the comprehensive step-by-step guidance by the experienced officer from Energy Commission. Moreover, this includes with the responsibilities of a REEM as well the do’s and don’ts of a REEM. ​

OVERVIEW ON EMTC
IEM Training Academy Sdn Bhd (IEMTA), with the approval of Suruhanjaya Tenaga, Malaysia (ST) is conducting an Energy Manager Training Course (EMTC) as part of the initiative to produce more Registered Electrical Energy Managers (REEMs) and support the implementation of the Efficient Management of Electrical Energy Regulations (EMEER 2008).
  • Participants will be trained on matters such as regulatory requirements, energy management tools, and skills to implement and optimize energy management plans and projects in their facilities.
  • Eligible participants can register via IEMTA as REEM with ST upon passing the EMTC examination and oral interview / presentation.​​
REQUIREMENT & QUALIFICATIONS
Participants who are eligible to register as REEMs with ST shall comply with the following conditions:

1. Malaysian citizen aged 23 years and above; AND
2. At least one or more of the following academic and/or professional qualification:
  • Holds a certificate of registration as  a Professional Engineer under the  Registration of Engineers Act 1967 [Act 138] and possess at least six months working experience in the efficient management of electrical energy at an installation; OR
  • Holds a degree in Science, Engineering, Architecture or its   equivalent and possess at least one year working experience in the efficient management of electrical energy at an installation; OR
  • Any other qualification recognised by Suruhanjaya Tenaga (ST); OR
  • Holds a Certificate of Competency issued by the Commission as an Electrical Services Engineer or a competent Electrical Engineer and possess at least nine months working experience in the efficient management of electrical energy in installation; AND
  • Pass presentation/interview with IEMTA and Suruhanjaya Tenaga (ST) representative. 
  • (Participants are required to present a project paper outlining involvement in implementing energy management in their facility as per guidelines provided.)
3. Attended the full EMTC course, pass the examination and presentation and interview.

ABOUT THE PRESENTER
Ir. Francis Xavier Jacob graduated with a B.Eng. (Hons) in Electrical Engineering from University of Malaya and M.Sc in Environment from Universiti Putra Malaysia. He is a Professional Engineer with Practicing Certificate registered with Board of Engineers Malaysia (BEM) and a Registered Electrical Energy Manager (REEM) and a Competent Electrical Engineer with Energy Commission Malaysia. He has been with Department of Electricity and Gas and Energy Commission Malaysia since 1991. He is actively involved in standard development and chairs the Technical Committee on Energy Management and sits in various Working Committees.

Ir. Gopal Narian Kutty graduated with a B.Sc. (Hons) in Mechanical Engineering from University of Strathclyde, Scotland and M.Sc. in Construction Project Management from UMIST, England. He is a Professional Engineer with Practicing Certificate registered with Board of Engineers Malaysia (BEM) and a Registered Electrical Energy Manager (REEM) with Energy Commission Malaysia. He was the former Senior Director of JKR Malaysia and the former National Project Director of Building Sector Energy Efficiency Project (BSEEP-UNDP). He has more than 30 years of experience in project management, design of mechanical system, asset management, energy auditing, energy management and sustainable construction.

Ir. Lim Kim Ten graduated with a B.Eng. (Hons) in Electrical Engineering from Universiti Malaya and M.Sc. in Electrical Engineering from National University of Singapore. ​He is a Professional Engineer with Practicing Certificate registered with Board of Engineers Malaysia (BEM). He is an active member of the engineering community serving various capacities in IEM and other organisations. He is actively involved in standard and guidelines development with various agencies in Malaysia and serve as Industrial Advisory Member / Examination Panel for various Universities.
 
Ir. Chong Chew Fan graduated with B.Eng. (Hons) in Electrical, Electronics and System Engineering from Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia. He is a Professional Engineer with Practicing Certificate registered with Board of Engineers Malaysia (BEM) and a Registered Electrical Energy Manager (REEM) with Energy Commission Malaysia. He has more than 19 years of working experience covering design, contract administration, project management and consultancy in electrical and instrumentation services. He is also an active member in various technical committees and working group in standards and guidelines development.

  • Closing date: one week before the event
  • Payment via CASH / CHEQUE / BANK-IN TRANSMISSION / WALK-IN
  • FULL PAYMENT must be settled before commencement of the course, otherwise participants will not be allowed to enter the hall. If a place is reserved and the intended participants fail to attend the course, the fee is to be settled in full.
  • Fee paid is not refundable. Registration fee includes lecture notes and refreshment.
  • IEM Training Academy Sdn Bhd (IEMTA) reserves the right to cancel, alter, or change the program due to unforeseen circumstances. Every effort will be made to inform the registered participants of any changes.
