The Washington Accord was originally signed in 1989 and is intended to assist the globalization of mutual recognition of engineering qualifications. The Accord outlines the mutual recognition, between the participating bodies, of accredited engineering degree programmes. It also establishes and benchmarks the standard for professional engineering education across those bodies. Accreditation of engineering academic programmes is a key foundation for the practice of engineering at the professional level. This is the 2nd series of the Washington Accord's Complexity Attributes that has been organized by IEM Training Academy. TRAINERS Ir. Dr Siti Hawa is a retired Professor in Civil and Structural Engineering from UiTM Shah Alam. She is the former Director of the Engineering Accreditation Department, BEM. She specializes in load bearing wall panel structures and engineering education. She made impactful contributions to Afghanistan, Bangladesh and Qatar on OBE and quality assurance. Dr. Siti published 15 books in structural engineering and more than 175 technical papers. Ir. Dr Liew was a practicing engineer who later became academia. He is the current Associate Director of the Engineering Technology Accreditation Council (ETAC), and the former Associate Director of Engineering Accreditation Council (EAC) from 2016 to 2020. Since 2012, he has been involved in the accreditation of engineering degrees, engineering technology degrees, and engineering diploma programmes. He has over 12 years of teaching and academic experience, and managing engineering programmes as well as 12 years of industry experience. |
