OVERVIEW

Synopsis

This course is designed to provide participants with both the technical knowledge and the leadership skills needed to prioritize safety in the dynamic and challenging construction enviroment. Through case studies, hands-on workshop and group discussions participants will be prepared to manage safety effectively on any construction project.

​The Trainer
Ts. Ahmad Azhar Bin Wagiran is a Professional Technologist in the field of Aerospace & Aeronautical AV. He holds a bachelor in Aeronautical Engineering from Wichita State University, Kansas, USA. He not only has expertise in Aerospace & Aeronautical AV but he also has a lot of experience as an Auditor. He has a certified QMS ISO 9001: 2015, ISO 45001: 2018, ISO 14001: 2015, ISO 27001: 2018 trainer and consultants: SIRIM and ISO 9001: 2015 auditor; 2014 PSV. Other than that, he has also been as consultants and Assessor for Total Quality Management (APO), Consultants and Assessor program Business Excellence Framework (BEF); MPC, Industry Advisory Panel (IAP) for Faculty of Mechanical Engineering, UiTM Shah Alam, Selangor and Technical Advisory Council (TAC): Advance ADTEC (Shah Alam).

Objectives

• This course aims to equip construction industry professionals with a comprehensive understanding of the OSHCIM framework and regulatory requirements.
• Practices for safety and health management. Participants will learn how to identify.
• Manage risks, implement control measures, and foster a safety-first culture within their teams.
• Familiarize with concept of Hazard and risk in accordance with international standard.

Day 1: Introduction to OSHCIM and Risk Management in Construction

• Key components of an effective OSHCIM program

2. OSHCIM Legal Framework

• Overview of relevant laws and regulations
• Responsibilities of employers, contractors and employees
• Ensuring compliance with occupational safety and health standards

3. Planning for Safe Construction Projects

• Strategies for intergrating safety in project planning
• Identifying safety requirements at each stage of construction
• Involving stakeholders in safety planning

Case Studies

• Analysis of real-world construction safety incidents
• Lessons learned and prevntive measures

4. Construction Risk Assessment

• Conducting comprehensive risk assessments
• Identifying and evaluating hazards specific to construction

Day 2: Implementing Safety Controls and Continuous Improvement
5. Hierarchy of Controls

• Understanding the hierarchy of hazard controls
• Applying effective control measures to reduce risks

6. Developing Safe Work Methods

• Creating safe work method statements (SWMS)
• Documenting and communicating safe work practices

Workshop: Conducting a Risk Assessment for a Construction Project

• Hands-on exercise in performing a risk assessment
• Identifying control measures and documenting findings 

7. Safety Leadership and Culture in Construction

• Role of leadership in promoting a safety culture
• Building team commitment to health and safety goals

8. Monitoring and Auditing Safety Performance

9. Emergency Preparedness and Response

• FULL PAYMENT must be settled before commencement of the course, otherwise participants will not be allowed to enter the hall. If a place is reserved and the intended participants fail to attend the course, the fee is to be settled in full.

Cancellation Policy
 
IEMTA reserves the right to postpone, reschedule, allocate or cancel the course. Full refund less 30% if cancellation is received in writing more than 7 days before the start of the event. No cancellation will be accepted prior to the date of the event. However, replacement or substitute may be made at any time with prior notification and substitute will be charged according to membership status.
